Online Silk shaded vegetables 2025- 2026

Last year we completed 'PineappleTwist' a beautiful assortment of fruit in a contemporary classic / Elizabethan style (see photo). This year we plan a companion piece of typically British vegetables available in the Elizabethan era.

Join me online as I stitch a series of small vegetables in fine silk threads intertwined with a gold thread stem and embellished with needlelace leaves. (Sorry, the design isn't quite ready to show you just yet!)

You can sit back and watch or stitch along with me in class, we will talk through my thought process as I choose the colour palette, decide the stitch direction and approach to each vegetable to achieve light shade and texture. 

If you would like to stitch along with me, using a Mellor or laying tool to even the tension and smooth each thread is a great calming process and as you will find, cannot be rushed. Taking 2 hours out of your week to concentrate in the moment on a micro scale feels like a little experience in mindfulness.

The first class starts on 2nd October 2025 on a Thursday morning at 11am for two hours, we will meet weekly over 3 terms, each of 10 weeks. Dates listed below.

Tools you will need: Slate frame, Small ring frame, Grey Gel pen, Light box, size 10 or 12 embroidery needles, a Mellor, embroidery scissors and access to Zoom.

Materials you will need: 

• A pale colour Silk Dupion approx 40cm x 40cm (supplied before course starts UK only)
  
• A calico backing 50cm x 50cm (supplied before course starts UK only)
• 30 - 35 shades of De Vere Silks (Please purchase direct from Devere Yarns each colour is £3.05, list of colours will be supplied before course starts)
