  1. On the 14th and 15th of January I taught a two day class in Stumpwork for the Royal School of Needlework.

The design is to commemorate the Queens Diamond Jubilee which we will be celebrating later in the year.

We had lots to cover over the two days, but all who attended did really well and I look forward to seeing photos of their finished pieces.

Students came from as far as America and New Zealand.

We will be running a repeat of this class on the 26th and 27th May 2012, followed by a three day class to use the design in constructing a 3D box or casket from the 20 August 2012.

  2. I am currently working on a design for the Queens Diamond Jubilee next year.

The design is intended to be worked in either goldwork, blackwork or stumpwork on a two day class at the Royal School of Needlework at the beginning of 2012.

I Jacqui McDonald will be teaching the Stumpwork class on 14/1/12 and 26/05/12

Sophie Long will be teaching the Goldwork Class on 28/1/12 and 09/06/12

Jessica Aldred will be teaching the Blackwork class on 3/3/12 and 16/06/12

There will also be the option to mount your embroidery onto an heirloom Jubilee Casket in a 3 day class from 20/08/12

  3. the dress

Everyone has been asking me if I had anything to do with Katherine Middleton's Wedding Dress.

I still cant say much, The royals are determined that the overall designing and making of the dress will be shrouded in mystery for the statutory thirty years. I can tell you that I was one of the ladies that applied lace to parts of the dress, the sleeves, the veil and shoes.
None of us at the RSN new who the designer was and we had heard the newspaper rumours that there were 3 different dresses being made so did not know if we would see it until it was revealed on the day. I enclose a pic that gives you a view of the lace on the skirt as It was not clear on the TV coverage. It was really fun to work on and rather exciting having to keep such a secret!

  4. Sarah, Jacqui & Lucy

I have had few weeks away teaching on the intensive Certificated Course for the RSN out in San Francisco.  I had a wonderful time with my colleagues Lucy and Sarah.

    Our students May 2011

Sarah, Lucy and I with all our students, who welcomed me to the U.S. with open arms. They were all very dedicated, worked really hard and were up until all hours of the morning to complete there work. Well done to all, very successful grades were achieved and I am very proud of them all.

  5. book signing at Ali Pali

Becky and I did our first book signing since our books were released on Thursday 7th October. Was very nervous about the book signing, but it went well. Thank you John & Carol from Sew Good Books who accommodated us both and who were very pleased with the amount of books we helped to sell and sign on Friday.
